Citroen DS 5LS: Big luxury Citroen saloon for China
Citroen has never really had much success, at least not in recent years, with big, luxury saloon cars. But it’s having another go with the Citroen DS 5LS, a large luxury saloon based on the Citroen DS5 hatch. But the DS 5LS isn’t a car aimed at world markets, but one Citroen has conceived and is building for the car market in China where big luxury saloons – with plenty of room in the back – are much in demand.
The new Volvo V40 is set to be unveiled at next week's Geneva motor show. The manufacturer has sought to retain characteristics from the larger Volvo models but refine it with sharper features in a more compact form, while focusing on a number of key areas within the car. The organisers of the Le Mans 24-hour have announced a raft of radical new rules on the eve of the 2012 race - including the less restricted use of hybrid power for the top-flight LMP1 racers from 2014. The governing ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) unveiled the major changes due in two years' time as the teams start the 80th 24 Heures du Mans event which runs from Saturday 16 - Sunday 17 June 2012. In order to stay in tune with our environmentally-conscious, economically-chastened times, the focus of the alterations is to improve the efficiency of the elite LMP1 cars' technology and cement a link with roadgoing hybrids, as well as making the race cars safer.
